Green Protein Smoothie

This green smoothie is packed with protein… a perfect start of the day, and so delicious too.

I created this on a whim many years ago and it’s something my family and I still enjoy. In fact, this was my then-toddler’s first time trying spinach, and I was one happy mama when I gobbled this up (in a bowl, then), and said he loved it! he still loves it to this day and so do I.

Immunity Boosting Juice (Lemon, Ginger & Turmeric)

Now here’s a recipe that I can guarantee will make you feel better!

One morning earlier this summer, I woke up with a sore back, heavy eyes and a headache. You know that dreaded feeling. It had been a few weeks of sickness in my household, and I really didn’t feel like being sick. So I whipped up this concoction in my kitchen randomly, full of things I already had in my fridge; ingredients I know that are good to kick start your immune system and quite possibly give a jolt of “good health”.

Sure enough, immediately afterward, I had a boost of energy and managed to do what I needed to do for the rest of the day.

Sweet Spinach & Pineapple Juice

Never in my life did I think that I, Haribo Queen, would drink (and love) green vegetable juice. But that’s what life is all about, isn’t it? Growing up and changing for the better…

If you’re a fellow ex sugar “addict” like me, you may still have a little bit of a sweet tooth — I know I do. But I’m not after that sickly, nasty, chemical-ridden sweetness anymore; I prefer that subtle, true, natural sweetness. And this green juice certainly fits the bill.

Easy Detoxifying Turmeric Juice

This post is dedicated to my best friend in London, who once told me that she consumes so much turmeric that she’s “pretty sure all my insides are orange”. Ha! Well, my sweet orange friend, here’s another turmeric recipe to add to your repertoire.

The benefits of turmeric is well documented and was even used as medication centuries ago in ancient India. It’s a common spice added to a lot of Asian dishes (did you know it’s a cousin of ginger?), and I couldn’t be more pleased of how easy it was to add to a juice – the results being a very refreshing, tasty drink.

Carrot Detox Juice

Anyone else take one look at a carrot and suddenly hear their mother bellowing, “you better eat your carrots or you’ll get bad eyesight!“? I used to hear this every. single. time. carrots were present at the dinner table growing up, so much so that it’s only of my earliest memories.

Thing is, Mom was right: carrots are great for your vision, but also for so much more. Carrots are full of beta-carotene (that strong orange pigment) which converts to vitamin A once consumed. Vitamin A also promotes growth and development as you continuously grow and develop throughout your life, aids your immune support and promotes healthy – you guessed it – eyesight.

Tropical Mango Apricot Smoothie

This tropical mango apricot banana smoothie was an impromptu recipe I made one day, and it was a huge success (if I may say so myself).

The story goes like this: my mother frequently buys more “adventurous” fruits than I, from jackfruits to dragonfruits to everything in between, and is always very generous in giving me a bit of what she has. So one day we were at her home and she had “extra mangoes” (as you do) and gave me a few. And then, whilst perusing the supermarket aisle after visiting her, I chanced upon a small packet of dried apricots on sale and knew I had to add it into the smoothie.

ABC Beetroot Juice

If you’re new to juicing, you may feel a bit intimidated of the vast amount of fruits you suddenly realise there are. “What goes with what?” “Wouldn’t that taste nasty together…?!” It can all be a bit of a head spin, not knowing what to do or what goes with what. I’ve certainly been there.

Luckily there’s the classic ABC beetroot juice, which, as its name can attest really is as easy as your ABCs and looks and tastes absolutely delicious and is so good for you — especially for our blood. It’s almost as if the deep, rich reddish-purple colour of beetroot (the star ingredient of the ABC juice) is a sign that it helps our blood… it certainly mimics the look of it!

As it turns out, beetroot boasts many blood health benefits: it’s packed with essential nutrients such as iron, manganese, potassium, folate and Vitamin C. Its numerous blood benefits include increased blood flow and lowering blood pressure. It also helps your blood platelet count to rise, which the case for me.
